Message from the Superintendent's Office
People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.
-- Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, Swiss psychiatrist, author (1926-2004) --
In promoting ISG to parents and potential teachers, I have been told I should project on a screen the list of universities to which our students go after graduation and ask, “Do you have any questions?”
But ISG is far greater than our list of student successes or an attractive compensation package or a line of happy parents. It is a school district that is respected both in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the world of international education. One does not have to look very hard in the world to find someone who has attended an ISG school, who sent their children to an ISG school, or who worked at an ISG school. In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, ISG has set the standard for excellence for expat education for almost 50 years.
We have more than our share of students and staff who shine their inner light upon others. It is said that a candle loses none of its light by lighting another candle. As I look back on my 28 years in the Kingdom, the memories foremost in my mind are those of students and teachers who appreciated each other. In quiet times, I think about those good people and wonder where they are today.
Welcome to the ISG website. Please browse its pages. I hope it attracts you to consider more carefully the opportunities available in the Kingdom, and especially at ISG. I hope your visit here is the start of a closer relationship between us.
We have high expectations for our students, and each year they meet and even exceed our expectations in their academics, involvement, and personal qualities such as character, kindness, and courtesy.
We are not perfect. As the cartoonist, Charles Schultz, once said, “Sometimes I lie awake at night and I ask, ‘Where have I gone wrong?’ And a voice says to me, ‘ This is going to take more than one night.’ “.
But we love what we do and we do it well.
Warmest regards,
Norma Hudson
