Dhahran Elementary/Middle School

Dhahran Elementary/Middle School was founded in 1962 as a nonprofit, coeducational day school for children of the American Consulate staff and is now one of three schools located adjacent to the American Consulate. It is the mission of the school to provide a nurturing learning environment where students can gain the knowledge, attitudes, and skills which will enable them to become successful and responsible participants in the global community. This is accomplished in cooperation with the culturally diverse school community, comprised of students, staff, parents, and business representatives.

The school provides a high quality American program with U.S. certified teachers and American textbooks supporting an American curriculum. Elementary students are in self-contained classrooms, where teachers work to facilitate a developmentally appropriate environment which will best meet the needs of each student. By utilizing the range of educational "Best Practices," staff are challenged to provide the highest quality integrated instruction program for students.

Art, general music, instrumental music, Arab culture, physical education, information literacy skills, and technology classes are taught by specialist teachers. The integration of both literature and technology throughout the curriculum is a key goal. English as an Additional Language classes are provided for students who need assistance in learning the English language.

Dhahran Elementary and Middle School is accredited by the Middle States Assocation of Colleges and Schools.

An extensive activities program offers additional opportunities in sports, academic programs, arts and crafts. Staff and parents are encouraged to sponsor activities and to share their interests and talents with students through these experiences.
